Parklea is a suburb in Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is approximately 40 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Blacktown and is a part of Greater Western Sydney. The suburb was named by the subdividers in the early 1900s and is well known for the major Sydney landmark of Parklea Markets.

1933 Population at the census for Parklea and nearby area was 187. There were 42 occupied dwellings.
1947 Population of Parklea at the census was 210
1954 Population of Parklea at the census was 307.
1972 Prime Minister Billy McMahon opened New South Wales Federation Soccer Academy in Parklea on February 26.
1983 Parklea Prison opened in November (officially opened on September 5,1984). The first prisoners admitted on November 7.
1989 Parklea Markets began operating in August. (official opened in August 1990)
2001 Population of Parklea 1,289.
